A small snippet of an industrial engineering site scanned with our mobile laser scanner (MLS) using the Emesent Hovermap SLAM LiDAR backpack. While the unit can also be mounted to a drone, here it is being used in backpack mode allowing capture of complex structures by simply walking the unit throughout the environment you are scanning. The resulting scan is almost like an X-ray in the sense that very little of the internals of the target structure is obscured from the laser and therefore reconstruction of the 3D model allows for detailed slicing inside and out. Combined with an overflight of the drone, this would complete the picture and allow the derived 3D point cloud to be converted through to detailed CAD drawings.
