Important Update for Landowners! – Claim Your NZUs for 2024 with a Provisional Emissions Returns (PER)
Submissions for Provisional Emissions Returns (PER) are now open until June 30, 2025. NZUs accrued during the year January-December 2024 will be added to your NZETR account. Our ETS team can submit a PER on your behalf to streamline the process and claim your NZUs.
What is a Provisional Emissions Return (PER)?
A PER, previously known as a Voluntary Emissions Return (VER), allows landowners to claim NZUs up until the current year in this commitment period. For some of you, we will do this automatically. If we haven’t done this for you automatically, but you wish us to, please contact us now. NZUs accrued during the year will be added to your NZETR account.
REMINDER: Final Emissions Return (FER) for Mandatory Emissions Return Period 4 (MERP 4).
The FER is coming up in the first six months of next year (2026). Unlike a PER, a FER is mandatory and will calculate all the carbon for all your holdings for the full MERP 4 (January 1, 2023 – December 31, 2025).
