Interpine offers a wide range of NZQA unit standards across the forest industry skills training and assessment through our certified Trainers. These can be customised to suit requirements, including coming to you to complete the training and assessment.  Interpine will endeavour to look at funding possibilities through Competenz relative to employment situation.

Core Units for Forestry Work

To work in New Zealand’s forestry industry, there are three key unit standards that serve as the foundation for health, safety, and essential forestry skills:

  1. Unit Standard 17769 – Demonstrate knowledge of general health, safety, and environmental requirements in forestry.
  2. Unit Standard 22994 – Demonstrate knowledge of factors that affect the performance of forestry workers.
  3. Unit Standard 17772 – Demonstrate knowledge of environmental requirements in forestry operations.

These unit standards are considered the minimum requirement by most forest companies in New Zealand. They ensure workers have a baseline understanding of health and safety protocols, environmental considerations, and factors affecting worker performance.

Why These Qualifications Matter

Having these NZQA qualification unit standards is crucial for entering the forestry industry. They ensure you meet the health and safety requirements and possess the fundamental skills necessary to work safely and effectively in forestry operations.

For example, Unit Standard 22994 provides valuable insights into how nutrition and overall health can impact worker performance. This knowledge is vital in maintaining productivity and reducing risks in a physically demanding environment like forestry.

Achieving these qualifications is a great first step toward a career in forestry. Not only will you receive a certificate acknowledging your skills and knowledge, but it also opens doors for further specialization and advancement within the industry.
