Interpine recently attended both the New Zealand and Australian ForestTech conferences run by FIEA. The focus of this year’s ForestTech event was remote sensing, field inventory and forest estate planning. David Herries presented an understanding of Yield Generation Pathway as it relates to use of aerial LiDAR and plot imputation with reference to a recent project on ~200,000ha of softwoods in New Zealand. This was designed to give the attendees at the conference an understanding of the basic concepts of what forest canopy metrics are and how they are used in combination with field reference plots to forecast forest yield using plot imputation. Interpine also launched it STICKS harvester reporting system in collaboration with ForestPHD (https://sticks.interpine.co.nz).
